What's in my bag?

Well thanks to Tym, who is the source of all my blog challenges, it is a cool idea. I don't feel like dumping my purse, but I can tell you what is in it today. I did take a pic of a purse I got a freebie in SL. I would never carry it, but it's a purse for this blog post.

  1. Iphone - I use the phone for phone calls, but it's better for web browsing in the line at the grocery store, IMing friends, and playing games.
  2. Ipod - I have a 45 minute commute -each way - so it's a life saver. I have had the Ipod longer than the Iphone and it's easier to keep Audible books and pod casts loaded and ready for car rides. It's also easier because I can use the phone if I need to and I don't have to switch back and form Itunes to the phone.
  3. Iphone head set - You never know when you want to listen to music in the grocery store.
  4. Iphone blue tooth ear piece - I drive a convertible, so I always keep it in my purse in case it's a great top down day and there is no way I will hear the phone ring.
  5. Wallet - I have a small Coach leather change purse that holds my credit cards. I almost never have cash. Zak says I do it on purpose. For years I used a rubber band, then one of my cousins gave me this little change purse. I have had it for over 10 years, but it still works well. I will be in trouble if I wear a hole in it.
  6. ID badge from work - I would loose it if it wasn't in my purse. Enough said.
  7. Comb - It comes in handy.
  8. Lipstick - I have a little bag that goes in my purse and holds 4 tubes of lipstick. I'm cheap so they were all in a "gift with purchase" from Lancombe. I don't wear Lancombe, but my Mom does and she never likes the free lipsticks. I have tons of lipsticks and mascara tubes.
  9. Pill box - I have this nice beaded pill box that I keep Advil, Claritin, and other things I may need a moment's notice. Nothing bad, just the basic first aid kit.
  10. Mints from restaurants - Ok, these do multiply in your purse. I think I have even heard a few of them having sex.
  11. Keys - I think this is self explanatory
  12. Change - OK I dump all my loose change in the bottom.
  13. Woman Thingies - That's what Zak calls them. I have them if I remember to replace the one I used the last time I wasn't paying attention to the calendar. It's a game of chance as to whether or not I am "prepared."
  14. Altoids - I always have a box of cinnamon Altoids on hand at all times.
  15. Check book- I have a book of checks, no fancy cover, just tossed in the bottom. I always need it when I pick up the dry cleaning.
  16. Receipts - Yea there are always a few in the bottom. Mainly from restaurants so it's just being lazy. No hope of returning anything there.
  17. Ink Pens - This is also a crap shoot. If I want one I don't have one, and if I don't need one there is one shoved in the bottom.
  18. Hand sanitizer - This goes without saying for a couple who eats out way to much.
  19. Hand lotion - See above.
  20. Ethernet cable - I might need it when going to work in another building. It's a short one, but it comes in handy.
I think that covers all the stuff that ends up in my purse. Zak calls it the magic bag because I can pull all sorts of stuff out of it. I hope you are all ok without a picture to visualize this collection of stuff.

Wow, Tomorrow is Christmas Eve!

It always amazes me to think back on all of the things that have happened in year when it is coming to an end.  We all say that time is on overdrive in SL and I think that is true.  I was contemplating all of the things that have happened over the course of the last year in SL.   I have always believed that change is a glorious opportunity in life that keep things fresh and exciting.  Without change we would get bored.  I just have to step back and think of all the lightening fast changes that happen in SL and try to keep my head from spinning.  Good friends have come in and out of lives.  Store and clubs we love have opened and closed.  Zak alts multiply faster than atoms splitting in a nuclear reaction.  Through it all there are some constants.  I still have white hair.  (OK, at this point I own too many styles to change colors.)  Zak is still obsessed with finding the perfect skin with eyebrows for a man with blond hair.  We have a great core group of friends who have been with us through all of it.   To all of you,   may you have a very meaningful and cherished holiday, not matter what you are celebrating.  The new year promises to be full of even more good changes and opportunities.  Things are uncertain, but they always have been, and they always will be.  Now is the time to focus on love, friends, family, and hope.

I have finally merged SL and RL! It's kinda weird

Each year in RL I spend a whole evening watching old Christmas specials, especiall Olive the Other Raindeer, drinking wine, and wrapping packages.   Ok, the main purpose is to get the gifts wrapped, but you have to make a really boring job fun.  Zak hates to wrap.   Usually I end up down stairs wrapping on the den floor and watching movies on the TV.   This year, we finally got the Free View TV working.  We had Olive going on the TV in the den and we invited several friends over. We all sat around in SL watching Olive and the Grinch. (not at the same time silly)  I was here in RL wrapping packages on my desk.   The den floor has more room, but this was much more fun.  It was a party.   Each year SL seems to keep getting better.   BTW, I have your gift here under the tree.   Have a great Christmas Week and enjoy the holidays, which ever one you celebrate.

The Holidays are almost here!

I can not believe that Christmas will be here in 11 days.  It does not seem possible.  RL has been busy with shopping and chores.  We have an office party next week and I am responsible for some of the food, so I had to clean the dust off my kitchen counter and remember how to cook.   It was a lot of fun and cheese ball and cocktail nuts are now ready for tomorrow.

I have also been shopping in SL but oddly enough for myself.  I dropped by Calla yesterday to see if they had new hair and I was thrilled with the new Indian Cane.  It's a casual knot of hair at the nape of your neck.  I wore it to a holiday party last night and it looked great.
I still haven't figured out what I am going to get Zak for Christmas.  I always have the same problems that everyone does because so many things in SL are no transfer.  I may take pictures from stores of what I would have bought him and then give him the L$ in total for the purchases.   Or I guess we can go shopping together.  GothiCatz has a great gift vendor that lets you pick out an outfit, pay for it, and have it delivered to someone else.  I am sure there are other stores that use a similar system but theirs sticks out in my mind.   Good luck with your holiday shopping and have a wonderful and safe holiday!

Christmas Moon

We danced on the Christmas moon last night. We have the moon platform for parties and it's a great place to sit and look at the stars. Zak made some decorations for the top and we put out the big silver tree. We have a silver tree in RL so it's nice to have one here too. The holidays are getting closer and we have started recieving holiday cards and party invitations. I love parties in SL because I can get dressed up and not have to worry with it in RL. I even like to entertain in SL because the cooking is so much easier. Maybe we will have to have a holiday party this year too. Have a great week!

My Daily Routine

I was reading Tymmerie's blog and she is participating in a new meme about what your daily routine is for SL.  Since I like to participate in things, I thought: "What is my routine for SL?"

Every time I log into SL and my "home" spot is in our foyer.  I always look through group notices and IMs first.  I don't like having a lot of notices and stuff in the upper right window.  Next I check Tiny Empires to see what happened while I was away.  Then I see what is on the agenda for the evening or day.   If there is a party that night I hunt through inventory and decide what to wear.  If we have nothing planned I grab some jeans and comfortable shirt.

After I have taken care of IMs and gotten dressed I look to see who is online.   If some good friends are on line I will IM them and say hello.  Then we usually plan any impromptu shopping trips or other adventures.  After the days activities I always TP back home.   I don't like logging out from other places unless I crash and can't get back in.  I guess my beginning and end of each day in SL is pretty routine.  I just change up the stuff in the middle.

BTW,  Bren is having a big grand opening party tonight from 5:30-7:30 SLT at the mall in Stan Lee.  Make sure to come out if you have time.   Have a great week!

Our Pool is Holy!

We were astonished to wake up this morning and find that the Lord had visited our property and left four holy images of himself sitting around.  The representation of him walking on water on our pool was the most amazing.  Avatars from near and far have reported that they can now swim in our pool and be healed of all kinds of ailments including near sightedness, in grown toe nails, and sun burn.   Many avatars have left candles and other mementos as an offering of remembrance to the Lord.  We are  hopeful that these small signs that have appeared,  thanks to unseen individuals or spirits, will remind us that in this season of Thanksgiving we have a lot to be thankful for.  We have good friends,  in RL and SL.  We have family who love us and want to spend time with us,  in RL and SL. Even though we will never be able to retire because our 401Ks are in the toilet,  there is hope.  There is hope for all of us because we are a community and we must care for and about each other.  That care and love and will see us all through even the worst of times.   So as we wax philosphical and spiritual tonight,  remember,  if you have an ailment of heart, spirit, or toenail,  come swim in our pool.   May you find healing and peace.   Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends and family in US, and many wishes for peace and thanksgiving to our friends around the world.

Decorating for Christmas!

Yes it's early to decorate a house, but the mall is different.   We have been decorating the Forum Shops at StanLee for Christmas.  All of the decorations are for sale at $L50 - $L100.  That is a great price to grab some fast good looking decorations.  In this picture we are putting up wreaths at a new store in the Forum Shops - 7 Minds Web Hosting.

Bren Betts owns a web hosting business in RL and he has opened a shop in SL to sell his services.  The vendors are very easy to use and the service is great.  You can get all the information at his website:  http://www.7mindsweb.com.   He provides the hosting for SL Wedding Elegance and has done an outstanding job answering all of my questions and helping with tech support.

We are also planning a big Welcome the Christmas Season party on Sunday November 30, 2008 from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM SLT.   It will be a great time to come have fun and see all the wonderful shops. Please mark you calendars and come party with us.   It will be a good break after the Thanksgiving holiday.  We will all need a rest from RL by then.

I Really have 3 Part Time Jobs?

Today I am taking some time to catch up on some quiet reading here by the beach. Over the past few months I have begun to demonstrate some behaviour very similar to my real life. Sigh, I am a workaholic. I enjoy my job in RL and I take pride in doing it well. For years one of the things I enjoyed about SL was that I didn't have to do much of anything other than talking to people and shopping. I will admit that I did go through a period of gambling addition around 2004-2005 but that was back when the Lindens paid landowners Dwell fees and you could really make some money sitting a slot machine for hours and hours. I would stay online all night and all day. Since the end of camping and free money in

SL I have not had much of an ambition to get a job.

Last February I began to think that having some extra excitement in SL might be a fun thing and it would help subsidize my shopping habits. I got a job as a photographer with Dream Studios. It was a fun job and I enjoy taking pictures, and editing them. This was a great part time job because I could work when it fit my schedule. I did not feel like I had to be online all the time.

In July I decided to start a wedding consultation service, Wedding Elegance. We started booking weddings in August and so far we have assisted with four weddings and have a few others on the calendar. I am also working on a system to sell customized wedding invitations and holiday cards through a vendor. I like working with people and since I'm organized the weddings have been a lot of fun. I did slow down on advertising after having two weddings in one week. That was a lot of work. The day of a wedding also fully consumes your RL day. This is especially true when your customers are not in your timezone.

This week was my first week as a club manager. One of our good friends, Ander Galthie, is devoting some more time to his RL, so I agreed to fill in as the manager of IGBC on Monday nights. Due to some other people's computer issues and RL situations, I ended up working three nights this week instead of one. I can sometimes be an over achiever. I have enjoyed it but I really don't want to make SL all work and no play. That said, if you are online on a Monday night from 6:00 - 8:00 PM IM me for a tp to the party. I'm also attaching a slurl below. We have a great time and there are some really wonderful people who are regulars. Everyone will always say hi to you. The dancers are pretty hot too, but I'm biased.

So now that I have turned my SL into a part time job, or three part time jobs, I guess I can afford to buy more boots, and dresses, and sweaters, and hair, and jewelry, and.... You get the idea. Have a great week everyone!

Shifting Shapes Show A Success!

The Forma & PEER Shifting Shape Show was yesterday at 11:00 SLT. Dream Inc. provided the models and the fashions of Elixir, Boingo, and Bobo's Masquerade were featured. The Jewelry designs shown in the show were by Thorn Witrial of the Golden Thorn.

Music for the show was provided by DJ Brenn Betts, and The Forum Shops at StanLee hosted the event.

I was the MC for the show and I am pictured to the left wearing one of Bobo's designs, the Tonality gown. I also was lucky enough to wear a full set of Thorn's Art Deco Jewels in Black Diamond and Platinum. I have the earrings, necklace, and bracelet. My shape is a custom Forma shape.

Zak modeled 2 of his shapes. The first shape he showed was Peter. He looks really good in the Boingo Gladiator Pants in red. The shape is one of his best sellers. Zak also modeled his Adam shape in the show. Adam was wearing a really slinky swimsuit by Bobo. Check out the Forma blog to the left to see pics of all the shapes he modeled.

We want to thank all of the friends who helped make the show a success. We packed the sim, which was really great, except that everyone who expressed an interest in coming was not able to get online. Maybe sometime we will have another show! For now, I am looking forward to a nice quiet Sunday in SL.

Shifting Shapes Fashion Show Next Week!

We have been very busy for the past two weeks.   Zak's shape designs, Forma, and our friends Phinn and Ethan's shape designs, PEER, have teamed up to sponsor the Shifting Shapes Fashion Show.

The Show will be held at The Forum Shops at StanLee next Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 11:00 AM SLT.  Both Forma and PEER have stores in the Forum Shops   Bobo's Masquerade, Boingo, and Elixir will be showing their shape enhancing designs.  We are also privileged to have the Golden Thorn accessorizing the clothes with his amazing jewelry.
This is a great show to come and get new ideas about styles, shapes, and see some incredible fashions.   Dream Studios will be providing the georgious models for the show.   Take some time next Saturday and come by.   It promises to be an exciting event.

New Jewelry!

In RL I have to be careful when I buy jewelry.  I have really expensive tastes and so I can't always afford what I really want.   Thorn has created a series of exquisite Art Deco inspired sets that include a necklace, earrings, and bracelet.  The textures for the stones are amazing.   They look like real quality stones.   So far he includes Black Diamond in Platinum, Pink Diamond in Platinum, Diamonds in Gold, Emeralds in Platinum, Sapphires in Platinum, and Rubies in Platinum.   I have four of the styles included here.   They are all available at the Golden Thorn.

Lazy Sunday Morning

It's been a long week and it's nice to have a lazy Sunday morning to kick back, drink coffee, and get ready for the week ahead. This week will be very busy because we are planning a fashion show for Forma and Peer, Zak's shape store and our good friends Phinn and Ethan's shape store. I will post more info on the show soon, but hold the date on November 1, 2008 at 11:00 SLT. We did take a break for a while last night. Fauxy Shepherd re-opened his jazz club, Fsharp for the evening. He does a great job DJing all your favorite jazz songs. Fauxy is a great friend and we love hanging out with him and Houston dancing the night away. It was really great to kick back and slow dance for a while. One task for the coming week will be to find a really good Halloween outfit. I have never been really thrilled by my outfits in the past so this year I have to find one that I really like. Have a great week in SL and see you soon.

The Virtual Reality Room to enhance your Virtual Reality

I bought the new Virtual Reality Room 340 the other week. I've been meaning to blog about it, but I've been busy. The VRR comes in box that is really easy to rez. After you rez the box, there is a seamless room that displays panoramic images in way that makes you fee like you are there. It's similar to rl cave technology. The basic room comes with 15 textures from the cosmos to a forest. I also purchased the Villandry add-on set of 8 city scapes and the Near Paris set of 8 other scenes. I have rezed the VRR at Wedding Elegance and I think it is a great option for a wedding space.

You can really be in the forest without getting your dress dirty. If your interested in the Demo, check out the VRR Shop - http://slurl.com/secondlife/Solariam/208/172/431 Have a good week everyone!

New Mall Opening - The Forum Shops at StanLee

We have been friends of Blue and Cap for ages.  They are opening a new shopping plaza in Stanlee.   Cap did the build so of course it's extraordinary. The mall looks like a Roman Forum complete with olive trees and baths.   Cap and Blue have their flagship Culture Cannibal's store in the mall, and Phinn and Ethan have a shape shop, Peer.   Zak has opened a new branch of Forma, and I have an information stand for Wedding Elegance.   Aevalah also has a fountain shop and there.   We are all very excited about the new shops.   Please come by and take a look.

Project Rudoph is off the ground!!

Months ago Zak started on a new project after we  had an off color idea when we saw a girl with boob lights to highlight her cleavage.   He started  "Project Rudolph"  to create a crotch light.   I call it by another name, but we all know I'm crass sometimes.   He finally had time to program a full menu and he put it out for sale in his shape shop Forma and SL Exchange.  It was picked up by http://invdaily.blogspot.com/, the In Vogue Hommes blog today.   I'm proud of him, and I'm glad he is showing all avies how to turn on their crotch lights.   The pics are great and so is the price - $L10.   Check out the Forma stores in Dream Plaza:  http://slurl.com/secondlife/Neptune/43/140/27   or the new Arcadia Shops at Stanlee http://slurl.com/secondlife/Stanlee/67/247/2054   .   I know you or your best guy will want one.   I"m going to go explore my own private red light district.   Have a great week!!!

New Wedding Elegance Location at Dream Shops

I have opened a storefront shop for Wedding Elegance in the new Dream Shopping complex.   Kat and Angel have expanded the shops, and they have some new tenants.  Felecia's Fashions has opened a main store in the complex.  Elixir, Boingo, Calla, Eolande, Forma, and Tango New York have been tenants in the original section and are wonderful stores.  Mouse Trap and The Golden Thorn are new to the original section.  There is also a new cafe in the works.  It will be a great place to hang out and have coffee when it's open.

I'm working on having caked and invitations available in a vendor at the store.   There is also information about our consultation services.  The new shop is a work in progress, but hopefully everything will be ready in a week or so.   Come by the new shops and check everything out.

Custom Poses by LAP

We have long been fans of Dove Swanson and her amazing poses.  She owns Long Awkward Pose, LAP,  and sells some of the best model and photography poses in SL.  She is also a fellow Carolina Girl, so I'm glad to support her.  (Yea, don't imply from that comment that I or she supports UNC.  I don't know if she does, but my blood runs Duke Blue.)  She has several locations in SL and if you go to Search and enter LAP you will get her shops.   Zak found a pose he really liked in a picture.  He tried to replicate it but Zak is not a poser.   Sorry honey, nothing bad intended.   He contacted Dove and amazingly she does custom work.  Our understanding is that she will sell it if you give permission, and of course he said "make some money on it!"  Check out LAP and the new pose.   You can also check out all her great poses.  I will not admit in this blog how many of them I own.   :-)

Yet anouther way SL can get into your head and control your life.

I started playing Tiny Empires this week.   It's a HUD that you have on your screen and it basically replicates the old board game Die Siedler.  The HUD shows turns and when each turn comes up you can make decisions about buying land, buying a house, or other things.   You occasionally get gold, or loose gold or land.  Some times you don't get any offers and other turns you many have 5 offers to decide on.   The game has it's on website to show ranking and give information about the game.  I'm currently Baroness CJ Escher of Devonshire.  It really is another addiction to add to your already evident Second Life addiction.  If you want to give it a try, there is a free trial HUD.  After you have 10 achers of land you will be promted to buy the full version.    If you are interested and not in world, check out Http://tinyempires.com.   If you are in world, check out http://slurl.com/secondlife/Kitster/147/41/54.   IM me in world if you want to play and need someone to serve.   Happy playing!

Vapires in the mist!

Zak bought our little vampire couple a home today. It's an upgrade from the Gothic sky box he had designed. He bought the Blackened Retreat Center Chamber from Bare Rose. It looks really great for the reasonable price that he payed. It has great details of lava surrounding the columns, elegant tapestries hanging from the walls, and a royal throne.

It's a good platform and I think it looks good as a sky box. If you need a a unique build for a patio or sky box this is a good option. Check out Bare Rose and their many designs.

Have a great weekend everyone! Spend some time with someone you love.

THE Bob Mackie of SL!

Bobo Rosselsprung is the Bob Mackie of SL. I mean that as a BIG compliment. I loved his Barbie creations as a kid and who else could create such great over the top designs in SL. Bobo is a real sweet heart who has an incredible store at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Rosewood%20Fusion%20Bay/196/59/21. He has all the glitz and glamor that you would expect. If you want a real stunner of an evening gown go see Bobo's Masquerade. If you a guy and you need some sequins and glitz you can see him too. He also has these great flannel pj bottoms that work for either gender, but I don't think he's trying to get famous for them. He also has some amazing jewelry that is really low in prim count. You have to check out his store. He's a good friend and he has great clothes.

The Golden Thorn

I love it when friends open businesses in SL, especially jewelry businesses. I have some wonderful guy friends who design jewelry and always tell me that making the pieces small enough for women is to much of a pain, so they stick to men's designs. Thorn Witrial, one of our friends, has designed some amazing lockets that can be worn by women. He also has some great men's rings, belt buckles, bracelets and such. They do look great, and if your a guy who is getting married, have your future spouse check out his shop.

So now for the good stuff, the jewelry...

Thorn has four designs for the outside of the locket. I have chosen silver, and the basket weave texture. You can also choose gold or several other textures. The great thing about the locket is that it allows you to put 2 pictures inside. It has a clever script that opens and closes the two halves when you touch it.

I have added a picture from Zak and my 7th anniversary vow renewal from last year. I am waiting to get a good pic of everyone we know so I will have a big group shot.

You really do need to check out Thorn's shop. He's doing a great job and it's important to support everyone who is making a start at a business. http://slurl.com/secondlife/IGBC%20Gay%20Rehoboth/240/186/25

Have a wonderful Labor Day everyone.

What wonderful things we find in SL.

I had to go throne shopping over the weekend for a photo shoot. I came across this nice wooden one in a store that sells anything and everything you could ever want for a castle. I didn't even know you needed half the stuff they sold. You could buy a desk that was a slab of wood wedged into a rock. I don't know if you won a prize for pulling the wood out of the stone. Anyway, another Monday has come and almost gone. Have a great week!

Happy Birthday Dream!!!!!

Dream Inc. is one year old and we had to celebrate. For some reason the green fairies always come to Dream parties, but that makes them fun. We had most of the company here tonight and Kat and Angel did a great job on the party. The drinks and food were wonderful. We really appreciated the gifts. Now we have to think of something really fun for the next staff development outing. I hope there are many many more great years for Dream. We enjoy working there and we look forward to the future.

Thanks to everyone who helped with the WE ads!

Thursday night we shot some great photos for the Wedding Elegance ads. Thanks to Zak, Tym, Jace, and Phinn for helping out. We had to throw in some fun theme wedding pics. I am very excited that we do have some weddings booked. I also reserved the domain name SLWeddingElegance.com. We will begin getting everything together for the site shortly.

Check out the Wedding Elegance Flickr site for all the pics for our ads.

Wedding Elegance is up and running!!!!

We had a great weekend and consulted on our first big wedding. Bren and Ander had a wonderful wedding and we were proud to be part of it. We met some wonderful people and hung out with old friends. Jace has finished the build and it is amazing. We are open for business and we have gotten some referrals from the weekend. We are also working on a real website for WE thanks to Bren. Second Life really is full of a lot of incredible people! We shoot advertising shots on Thursday. Here is a preview.

Here is a sneak peak of our private dressing room that Jace made. It's a good place to watch your guest arrive until you are ready for your grand entrance.

Another Great Fashion Show!

We attended the Vitamen fashion show last night to see Jace Lewis, our good friend model. The show featured primarily men's swimwear and underwear. The show venue was very original and looked great. The five models would come onstage at the same time and rotate down the cat walk. There were six different scenes featuring racing swimwear, thongs, boxer shorts, body suits, jock straps, and intimate apparel. The designs were very creative and if you are a guy in the market for swimwear, or undies you should check out Vitamen.
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Japarid/112/111/25

Here are some great shots of Jace in the show. He is always professional and does a great job. In the opening he looks oh so sexy modeling this great leopard thong.

The show ended with a Las Vegas style number with feathers and fun.

I have always wanted to watch TV in SL!

We have tried watching TV or video podcast from the web on the TV in our SL living room several times. The media plays, but it's laggy, the sound is not in sync, and there are always issue if others are in the room trying to watch too. Anytime a new app comes out I always want to try it because one of my dreams for SL is to have a bunch of friends over for movie night, or Oscar night, or other TV events. I love to entertain, but none of our SL friends live near us, and it's sooo much easier to clean house in SL. No one complains about the dog hair on the sofa, or nor do I feel guilty if I forget to make sure I swept behind the toilet. Tonight we are trying Metaverse TV. As you can see, it's just not quite working for me. I have high hopes that one day the TV application will really consistently work for everyone in a room watching a media feed. Until then, I will just watch the Q. I will note that Zak could see the video on his screen. Maybe it both of us on the same internet connection, my mac, his pc, who knows. Anyway, I'll wait for anouther night.

What exactly is an alternative lifestyle?

Last weekend Zak and I were bored and decided to try some of the rp options in SL. The vampire rp seemed like it would be the most interesting. I even played Jyhad the card game in college. (Did I just tell how old I am?) Anyway, we set out to make vampire alts in grand style. So far it's been fun and we have met a few new people. That's the fun of SL, you always meet someone new who you would probably not have run into in rl. I'll post some more about our adventures when we have an adventure worth blogging about.

Well, vacation is now over and it's back to work tomorrow. I hope everyone has a great week.

Having Fun On Vacation!

I had to pop in and check on how things are going in SL and on the blogs I follow. Tymmerie Thorne has a great post on her blog, check out Girl Wonder Speaks in the links column. Since I'm on vacation, I'm too brain dead to be original and I think it's a cool idea. So, 5 things about me in RL and SL.

First the boring RL stuff:

  • I love to cook in rl and I can fix and pretty edible meal, but my career, SL, and other things seem to take up the time I used to have to cook. I have gotten to the point that I appreciate a great restaurant.
  • I miss my greyhound. He passed away in December of 2004. I would love to have another one but we have an aging Shih Tzu who deserves our attention. Our Jack Russlle doesn't care one way or anouther.
  • I have brownish red hair in RL, not white.
  • I had one of the best crab cakes that I've had in a long time at Phillip's Seafood Co. at Myrtle Beach, SC this week.
  • I have a blue VW convertible that I love to drive with the top down.
Now the SL stuff:

  • I have a guy alt, and a female alt that I use for photography and they are the models for Zak's shape shop, Forma. I don't play as either unless they are needed for something.
  • I do have a new vampire alt and messing around with some of the RPG stuff in SL has been fun.
  • I have met a SL friend in RL. Zak (my RL husband) and I met a good friend of ours a few months ago. It was a lot of fun.
  • I can not build a cube to save my life nor can I script.
  • The best thing about SL is the friends you meet.
Well, I hope you have a great weekend and I'll be back it next week, when life goes back to normal.

Celebrations!

The build is almost finished. Jace has done an incredible job and we really appreciate all of his hard work. We are down to the lists of smaller task to get everything finalized and set up. Hopefully we will be able to open next week.

In the mean time, we are going to go on a RL vacation. Since it's hard to take pics on the laptop, it will be a week or so before I post again.

Romance - This says it all! To 5 Years in SL and many more.

Today is Zak's 5 year rez day. Tuesday is mine. We have enjoyed the adventure and hope to have many, many, many more.

We are making progress!

It's been a busy weekend at the Wedding Elegance site. We put in 45 pose balls for the guest to use to sit at the chapel. Jace has moved the dressing room to it's final location and we have added landscaping to give it just the right feel. Jace has also started working on the pond. Hopefully, everything will be complete by the end of next week.

Zak the Baker

Today was Cake Day at our house. I started trying to design cakes like I saw on wedding websites. I have never had a talent for building in SL, I always say I can barely rez a cube. Zak has always had a great talent for building. In a few minutes he had a great 3 layer cake with fondant and roses. I had 3 lopsided cylinders that looked like they were ready to cave in. Zak is finishing up his tulip masterpiece, but I think it looks incredible. I'm lucky to be married to such a talented baker. I know his cake creations will be a hit at our new wedding consulting service.

When I say LUSH gardens, I mean LUSH!

I may have gone a bit nuts with the plants, but I want to create the right mood. I think gardens are a great way to do that. Jace has done an incredible job on the build.

Jace has done a great job and things are starting to take shape. I've also spent a ton on plants to make it perfect. I have also started designing packages for ceremony, reception, and photography.

Starting a business is hard!

I am opening a wedding service in SL. I have wanted to do it for a while and we have lot that will be a great spot. Our good friend Jace is a master craftsman and is handling the design and build. I will post updates here on our progress. Right now we working on the collaboration of taking ideas and making them real. Stay tuned and watch the progress. SL is great for a small business because you don't need capital, you just need a talent and brain trust. Luckily I think we will be ok on that end.

I sort of feel like Goldie Locks!

We found a new store last night that is trying to be a big department store in SL, Amodica. They have men's and women's clothing, accessories, and furniture. I bought 2 shirts. They have some nice clothes, but we had the most fun in the furniture section. They have a wide selection of bedroom furniture, a good selection of den and living room furniture, and they are building their selection of kitchen and bath. We had to try all of the beds. They have great pose animation that include a menu. This is great because you don't have to have 50 pose balls all over the bed. The sleep pose is also much better than some of the "chicken roasting on a spit" poses where you roll over ever 15 seconds. Amodica also has a full line of accessories for the furniture.

SHOES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I was really really really bad. I went to shoe expo. We won't go into how much money I spent on the 8 pair of shoes that I bought. (I only pictured 4 here. I didn't want to admit I bought 8 pair.) You really need to check them out.

Home Sweet Home!

Zak and I have recently decided to give up our protected beach front lot on the mainland and move to a private undisclosed island paradise. We decided that if we were moving to a new lot, we had to have a new house. I think building your own home in SL is a lot like building your own home in RL. We didn't want to deal with the hassle or the arguments on how the house should be built. This was a good idea because Zak would have been doing all the building since I can barely rez a cube. We decided to do the best thing for the tranquility of our computer room and buy a pre-built house. There are lots of great places to buy house and we shopped around to compare prices, styles, sizes, and amenities. We finally found the house we love at BO+HA architects.

BO+HA is located on its own sim and it is always full. I think that is a good sign of a retail store. If you never see anyone there, there may be a reason. They have beautiful modern designs in all sizes, prim counts, and styles. We choose the Oporto house. It's a beautiful modern design with enough space to feel big, but not too big that it looks empty. It also has a ton of wall space and we have used all of it for art and pictures. (There are some great original artists here in SL, but that's a post for another day.)

We added a side garden to the house as an entry point. Zak designed a great fountain modeled after one that we saw while we were on a trip. I love the pool on the house, and we faced the house toward the ocean to take advantage of the incredible views. We are glad to have things settled and are taking advantage of the sun and water. In SL you don't even have to use sun screen. I love not getting burned. If you are looking for a house, take some time and check out BO+HA we are glad that we found it.

PS - If you want a great 6,656 sm of ocean front protected property, check out our lot that is for sale. Ancient Rising is a quiet sim and has some great views.
